Privacy policy

Pure Silence does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no third-party tracking — everything stays on your device or in your own private iCloud.

Pure Silence is a minimalist meditation app. We designed it to be private by default. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information, and what this website does.

The short version: Pure Silence does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDKs. Everything you do in the app stays on your device, or in your own private iCloud account if you switch sync on.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect personally identifiable information. The app has no login, no user profiles, and no analytics or advertising frameworks. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not have access to your meditation history.

Data the app stores on your device

  • Your sessions and streak. Completed meditation sessions (type, duration, date) are saved locally on your device to show your streak, totals, and calendar.
  • Your preferences. Settings such as bell and haptic toggles, the daily reminder time, and your last-used duration are stored on your device.
  • Widget, complication, and live session data. A small summary is stored in a private app group container on your device: your streak, recent days, and, while you are sitting, how much of the session is left. The home-screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets, and Apple Watch complications read it from there; the Dynamic Island countdown is handed to the system by the app itself. The same container holds a marker for a session still in progress, so a sit that is interrupted can be recovered at the next launch. It never leaves your device except through iCloud sync (below).

iCloud sync (off until you switch it on)

iCloud sync is off when you install the app. If you switch it on in Settings, your session history is synchronized through Apple's CloudKit service into your own private iCloud database. This data is tied to your Apple ID and is accessible only to you on your devices. We, the developer, cannot read or access the contents of your private iCloud data. Apple's handling of iCloud is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn sync off again in the app's Settings at any time. The Apple Watch app has no sync switch of its own, so what you record on the watch stays on the watch.

Apple Health (optional)

One switch in the iPhone's Settings decides whether Pure Silence writes a Mindful Minutes entry to Apple Health when you complete a qualifying session, and it applies to your Apple Watch too. The app only writes this data — it does not read any of your health data. Health data is stored by Apple in the Health app on your device; it is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You control this permission in the app's Settings and in iOS Settings → Health, and you can revoke it at any time. Health data is never used for advertising or shared with third parties.

The Apple Watch app has no Health switch of its own — the iPhone's switch decides for both. Health normally carries that permission across to the watch; if it has not reached the watch yet, the watch asks once, and only with the switch on. Nothing is written from the watch while the switch is off. To keep the timer running with the screen dark, the watch holds a mindfulness runtime session — the system's lease for meditation apps. It is not a workout: Pure Silence never asks for workout permission and never writes a workout to Health.

Notifications (optional)

If you enable the daily reminder, Pure Silence schedules a local notification on your device. When you sit with the chimes off, it also schedules one local notification to mark the end of that session, and clears it if you finish early. Notification text is written on your device, carries nothing about you, and is never sent to any server.

Siri, Shortcuts, and Control Center

You can start a session by asking Siri, from Control Center, or from a Shortcut you build yourself. Siri handles what you say under Apple's own terms; all the app is handed is a length in minutes. Everything else happens on your device.

Exporting your history

Settings offers a plain CSV of every session — date, type, planned and actual length, and whether it ran to the end. The file is made only when you ask for it, and handed to the iOS share sheet: where it goes from there is your choice. The app uploads it nowhere.

Rating the app

Once per app version, after a completed session, Pure Silence may ask iOS to show Apple's standard rating sheet. The app never sees whether you rated it or what you wrote, and the only thing it counts is how many sessions you have finished on this device.

Payment

Pure Silence is a one-time purchase on the App Store — there are no subscriptions and no in-app purchases. Apple processes all payments — we never receive or store your payment details. We only see anonymized, aggregate sales information that Apple provides to all developers.

This website

puresilence.app is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and makes no third-party requests — the pixel wordmark font is served from this site rather than from Google Fonts, so loading the page contacts nobody but this server. Like any web server, the host writes standard access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested page, browser user agent) for security and troubleshooting. Those logs are never used to profile you, are never connected to anything in the app, and are not shared or sold.

Children's privacy

Pure Silence does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is suitable for all ages and contains no accounts, ads, or data collection.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device (and, if you switched sync on, in your private iCloud account), you remain in control of it. Deleting the app removes its on-device data. You can remove Health entries in the Health app and clear iCloud data via your iCloud settings. A CSV you exported is an ordinary file — keep it or delete it like any other.

Languages

The app is available in English, German, French, Spanish, and Japanese. This policy is published in English.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
